Description

The Mobility Innovation Center conducts transportation-related research in partnership with the department of transportation, private sector, and local transportation agencies. The MIC works across campus to collaborate with faculty who have expertise and interest to lead near-term applied research projects are driven by external partners. These include: A Proof of Technology of a digital twin for operations, maintenance, and asset management on the I-90 Homer Hadley Bridge; Challenge 2050: data visualiztion for future travel demand using existing forecast models and asset infrastructure information, Port of Seattle zero-emission policy development for taxis and transportation network companies, electrification at WSDOT ferry terminals to integrate transit and micromobility to increase walk-on passengers, evaluation of AI-sensors for improved safety at at-grade rail crossings, connected-autonomous vehicle testbeds to support city policy development and technology integration.
