Description

The SER-UW Native Plant Nursery is a student-led operation that annually produces thousands of individuals of more than one hundred species of trees, shrubs, grasses, and herbs native to the Puget Sound. Numerous students participate in the nursery each year, gaining experience in seed germination, plant growth, pest management, irrigation, fertilization, planning, time management, and other skills. We sell plants to internal UW groups – classes, RSOs, UW Grounds, etc. – at discounted rates and to the general public at market rates. We also grow plants on contract and can conduct germination and plant growth trials. We are located on the UW campus at the Center for Urban Horticulture, where we manage a large unheated hoophouse, outdoor irrigation area, and other spaces.
