The mission of the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis and Air Pollution (MESA Air) is to understand the relationship between air pollution exposures (especially fine particulate matter and traffic-related air pollutants) and progression of subclinical atherosclerosis and incidence of clinical cardiovascular disease over time.
