Description

Established in 2012 through a partnership between the U.S. Census Bureau (Census) and the University of Washington (UW), the NWFSRDC is a unique UW-shared facility that provides researchers and analysts across the Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, and Alaska access to non-public data collected by U.S. government agencies. Through the NWFSRDC, researchers can access hundreds of restricted survey, census, and administrative data resources from partner agencies in the Federal Statistical Research Data Center (FSRDC) program to conduct approved statistical research. This program consists of 37 FSRDCs (or simply RDCs) located at research-intensive institutions across the United States and Puerto Rico. Managed by Census in partnership with other government agencies and host institutions, RDCs operate as a coordinated national network that fosters cross-site collaboration and knowledge exchange. The NWFSRDC actively participates in this network, supporting cross-institutional research connections. A key advantage of FSRDCs is their ability to allow researchers to link or utilize already linked non-public microdata from multiple government agencies. Currently, no other data enclave or federal program offers researchers this opportunity.
